UK National Final Young Athletics League

UK National Final Young Athletics League,  Sports City, Manchester, 5th September 2010

Our young athletes had a superb end to the 2010 season with 3rd place in the UK final of the Young Athletes League – the best ever by a Scottish team.
The conditions were reasonable – dry and warm but rather breezy, mainly behind the sprinters.

64 medals were won – 14 Gold, 25 Silver and 25 Bronze (2009 – total of 58, 27 G, 20 S and 11 B) and there were 57 personal best performances.

Scottish Men’s League

Scottish Men’s League – Wishaw, 8 August 2010

Despite having a depleted team of only 12 athletes there were some excellent performances and the club finished 3rd on the day to consolidate 3rd position overall in the league with one match to go.
Greg Turnbull had 2 second places in the 100m and 200m – just missing out on PBs against the wind  -  and then running a 49.8 leg of the 4 x 400m relay. Our new thrower from the United States, Derek Kasselstrand, picked up useful points with second place in the Shot and Discus.
At the end of the day every point counted as we finished in 3rd place just one point ahead of Pitreavie.
