Musselburgh 10k 25/07/09 Race Report

Musselburgh 10K – a buffet worth finishing for

By Richard Meade

The lure of winning wine from Garry has not inspired me to write this race report, besides I think I am a day early!! No Garry sent me intimidating emails and threatened to kidnap my dog if I didn’t! So here is a race report from last week’s Musselburgh 10k. (more…)

Prize Available For Best Race Report In August

I’ve noticed that since I’ve twanged my hamstring, there have been far fewer race reports appearing on the site. Now, I know there may be a debate about whether a tree falling in a forest makes a noise when no one is there, BUT I’m pretty sure that if I’m not at a race, the race still happens…… :-)

Come on everyone, the only way we can all keep up to date with results, team prizes and get updates to find out how everyone is getting on, is for you ALL to contribute race reports. It doesn’t need to be anything elaborate, a brief paragraph with EAC results would be great, if you want to expand on it and mention how the race was for you and add any other comments you may have, then fantastic.  We need some fresh views and reports, everyone seems to like reading them and they bring everyone together that bit more.

To try and encourage you all to send in a race report or two, I am going to put up a prize for the best race report submitted during August. The prize will be a bottle of the finest red/white (winner can choose) or I could even substitute the wine for a few bottles of beer if you don’t want wine. Can I be fairer than that! (more…)

Freya who has also recorded PB’s over 3000m and 10k in 2009 – was delighted to have secured the Commonwealth Games standard in a quality race won by Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba (14:33.65) and will be hoping for an opportunity to better that at the Aviva British Grand Prix in Gateshead on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August.

Scottish Mens League

  Scottish Men’s League, Meadowbank, 12 July 2008

Third place with a team weakened by holidays and illness was a very good result; and due to the positions of the other teams in the match we have increased our lead in the league to 4 points with just one match to go. It was the Under 17s who came to the rescue of the senior men on the track – with personal bests for Calvin Girvan (100m and 200m), Peter Loudon (800m) and Edward Dudgeon (1500m). We picked up good points in the field with a double first for Willie Falconer (Shot and Discus) and wins for Garry McKay (Long Jump) and Simon Herron (High Jump). In the relays there was a good win for the 4 x 100 team (with 2 U17s) and a third place for the 4 x 400 (with 3 U17s).
The last match is on 30 August at Grangemouth  -  with a good team we should have a great chance of winning the 2009 Scottish League.

Provisional results for our athletes are here:
Scottish Mens League match3
and full results should soon be available on:
