Competing in Road and CC Championships

Alex McEwan has asked for the following important message to be brought to the attention of all athletes competing in Championships:

Fellow athletes/club members/squad members/runners : please read and help all team managers by following this advice. If you do not grasp it ask a coach/team manager.

ENTRIES AND RUNNERS AT CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
20th December 2009

Any athlete who competes in an SAL championship MUST be a current member of the scottishathletics membership scheme.
Furthermore, an entered athlete MUST NOT be substituted by a non-entered athlete at any time.

 Non observance of the above:
*Leaves the whole field and the officials uninsured in the event of an accident
*Leaves the athlete at a health risk in the case of a wrong identification of the athlete, and
*Makes the results invalid as an historic record.

The first two issues are so important that the Road Running & Cross Country Commission asks club secretaries and team managers for their co-operation in enforcing these rules.

The Commission will, however, closely monitor athletes and clubs not observing these rules. Any transgression may result in a disciplinary procedure.

Convenor

Bert Farmer Paarlauf Results

Bert Farmer 25 minute hill Paarlauf, 17th December 2009 Edinburgh

The Bert Farmer race was run in pretty bad/good conditions depending on whether you like snow and cold! After a risk assessment it was decided it was too dangerous to run on the paths at Bruntsfield, so we moved onto grass loops (well there was grass somewhere under the snow) and this made a great but demanding course, good resistance work with both the snow and the hills.

Fresh from their great performance on the track paarlauf, Neil and Malcolm again showed they are a class act, we must start splitting them up in paarlauf’s! Jenny and Colin gave them a good run for their money early on, but couldn’t keep with them over the 25 minutes.

Thanks go to Alex as usual for his dedication and hard work in organising and most of all for standing freezing in the artic temperatures recording the results. The man deserves a knighthood.

Full Results: All EAC unless stated. (more…)

EAC Track Paarlauf Results 15/12/09

There was a great turnout at last nights successful ‘Paarlauf’ so thank you to everyone who ran, organised, recorded, provided food/drink (that hot soup was very much appreciated) or in any other way contributed to the event. Special thanks go to our good friends at Run & Become for their generous prizes which were much appreciated by the recipients.

There were over 70 participants in various fancy dress and good to see so many making an effort as it does add a bit of fun to this festive event. But don’t let the fun element take away from some pretty good performances, first team home, recording 26.44 in the 4 person team contest, was Robins, Holligan, Young and Black, not far behind and first in the Dreilauf were Kerr, Burns and Kerr, recording 26.58 and also a superb 27.01 by Haskett and Mathieson to win the Paarlauf.

The most watched battle of the evening was probably the one fought between the wonderfully turned out Santa’s in the mixed senior race, with Meade and Thom just breaking away in the last 400m to narrowly beat Eravisto and Berra.

Great performances all round and an enjoyable, social and fun evening. Thanks again to all involved.
