Induction Evening

Induction Evening for Junior Athletes (U11-U15)
Tuesday 9th February 2010 at 7:00pm

To be held at Meadowbank Stadium in “The House”
The house is a room in the stadium, (door on right before entering corridor for café)

This is our 2nd Induction Evening sponsored by LDC, the purpose being to welcome new children/recently joined members (including parents/carers) and provide them with information about the organisation of the club.

Devil’s Burden’s Relay Report

The Devil’s Burden Relay is one of the first serious hill races at the start of eachyear. It is arelay race over 31km and several peaks of the Fife Lomond’s, consisting  of 4 legs for teams of 6 (2 of the legs are run in pairs).

Jonathan somehow managed to get me to volunteer to team manage the EAC entry this year. So in December I was rounding up willing volunteers, (victims) and managed to get two teams together. Looking at the runners who were taking part, the decision was taken to target the mixed team event as our number 1 priority and have the senior mens team as our ‘B’ team.    (more…)

Jonathan’s Hill Update 24/01/10

NATURE & WILDLIFE NOTES

Winter is slowly releasing its iron grip the countryside.  The slate grey, first light of dawn reveals fingers of snow pointing down the gullies on the hillside. These hills are the Lomonds Hills in Fife.  It is in these, the first days of the new year that a variety of species start their early forays to the hills.  This precedes greater migrations when the day length and climate improves. SCOTTISH TEAM FOR CELTIC CROSS COUNTRY (ANTRIM) – MCCAIN UK CROSS CHALLENGECongratulations to:

on their selection to  the Scotland  under-17  age group at this weekend’s Celtic Cross Country International, incorporated within the Antrim International Cross Country (Saturday 23 January), also the penultimate round of the McCain UK Cross Challenge series for 2009/10.

McCain Cross Country Challenge

Cardiff,  Sunday 17th January 
Rachael Dunn continued her good form at Cardiff, finishing in 6th place having finished 7th at Gateshead and 13fh at Liverpool, this puts her well up in the standings and is the leading Scot.

Marshalls Required

EAC will be asked to provide stewards for the National Road Relay Championships on 3rd April and the Edinburgh to North Berwick road race on Saturday 1st May. For which the reward will be a sense of satisfaction at supporting National Championships/Club Events and a nice cup of tea. If you can help out the club by volunteering please contact Alex.

Scottish U15/U17 Closed Championships

Scottish U15/U17 Closed Championships 16 – 17 January 2010 Kelvin Hall

At the Scottish Closed Indoor U15/17 championships, EAC athletes came away with  16 medals (6 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze).
Two athletes won 3 medals each –
Tom Holligan – Gold in U17 boys 60m & 200m and silver in 400m; 
Kirsty McKean – Gold in U15 Girls Long Jump and silver in 200m and 60m Hurdles.
Our other gold medal winners were:
Kyle Hogg (U15 boys 60m), Ben Robbins (U15 Boys 400m) and Cameron Goodall (U17 boys 60m Hurdles).
