World Cross Country Championships

World Cross Country Championships, Bydgoszcz Poland

Finishing 37th, it was a disappointing end to the season for Freya Murray.
Freya was at a loss to explain why she had ran so flat in a race that she had entered with high hopes.,

Liverpool 1/2 M Race Report 28/03/10 – by Dan Clarkson

Up bright and early this morning (6am!) in time to get a good breakfast in me and give it ample time to digest. Porridge with honey and banana and Double Decker, and a nice cup of tea.

I arrived in Liverpool about an hour before the race to bright sunshine, a mild breeze, and practically a cloudless sky: brilliant. Had 30, 40 mins to warm up properly. I did some strides, some dynamic stretching and some calf stretching. Also had ‘Reflekt – Need To Feel Love’ blasting out the ipod, a fantastic tune. (more…)

Baildon Boundary Way Race Report 28/03/10 – By Richard Meade

Running is a sport full of emotion. Pushing yourself to your physical and mental limit in the pursuit of a goal or achievement can not fail to bring out strong emotions as you either succeed or fail in that task. Whether it’s the Olympics or your first 5k the beauty about running is that everyone can enjoy those feelings of achievement.

For me that is how I became involved in running in the first place. I was determined to finish a marathon. Part of the reason for doing this was because my Dad had in his younger days been a good runner and had run close to a dozen marathons. My Dad gave up running over a decade ago long before I had even thought about buying my first pair fluorescent lycra running pants and so despite sharing an obsession we had never ran in the same race, a real shame. Last year, in an effort to get fit again and lose some weight my Dad pulled on his trainers for the first time in years and went for a run. Twelve months later he entered the Baildon Boundary Way, the very last race he had competed in back in 1999. He asked me if I would enter too so that we could share the experience of competing in the same race. Not to run together, but just to be in the same race. (more…)
