London Marathon Race Report – Kirk Ollason

When I first took up running in 2006, I had always been of the opinion that I would never take on a marathon. In fact, I was never that keen on even moving to half that distance but in September last year I completed my first 13 miler in Glasgow. That didn’t go too badly so I then started to give some thought about moving up and getting a marathon in before I hit the big 4-0! So, once I’d talked myself round the one race that jumped to the front of my mind was London and I was lucky enough to get one of the club’s places for 2010. (more…)

Calling all Trackies and Fielders

Calling all Trackies and Fielders

During the winter months we have had some great race reports  from the Edurance runners.
Cross Country, Road Racing, Hill Running, Bog Trotting, you name it they run it and they also write up top class. reports.

So to all track and Field competitors, do not let them put us in the shade, it could be a team report or individual stories,  a report  on your first competition or your first International Event.
You could write up a joint report when travelling home on the coaches.

This is your web site so let us hear from you all, Young Athletes, Juniors, Seniors, Team Managers and Coaches, send us your reports.

Norman Johnstone

Norman Johnstone

Sadly Norman Johnstone, husband of Enid died on Tuesday 20th April, after a courageous battle against Parkinson’s disease.
Norman was a Level 5 Field Official who was a prominent figure at both club and SAL fixtures until ill health forced him to give up several years ago.  He continued to maintain his interest in Athletics in his role as Treasurer of Edinburgh Southern Harriers until its amalgamation with City of Edinburgh AC in 2007.
He was always proud and supportive of his daughter Pamela’s athletic career as a sprinter and hurdler and through Enid kept up to date with all the Club’s performances, spectating until quite recently.

The funeral is at Mortonhall Crematorium, Main Chapel on Wednesday 28th April at 10am.

Chris Hoy Edinburgh 1/2 Marathon Race Report

A collection of thoughts and musing from some EAC runners on the Sir Christopher Hoy Half Marathon 2010

Below are some race accounts and thoughts of some of the EAC runners that took part in the race. Full results can be found here: http://www.winningtimeuk.com/index.php?page=results&event=90

***Owing to some scientific calculations and much debate, please knock off 2 minutes from all the times listed below due to severe wind on the day of the race. If you want to understand how such a precise calculation was arrived at (and how you too can improve your wind-effected times), please speak to the coaches.***
