MEADOWBANK THROWS WORKSHOP

MEADOWBANK THROWS WORKSHOP
The Throws course went ahead, despite the weather on Sunday, 28th November.

Chris Black (Olympic Hammer Thrower) gave an entertaining but very informative chat about throws, ably backed by Derek Kasselstrand (USA Discus Thrower). Unfortunately, we had to advise Robert Wilkie (Top Javelin Coach) not to take the risk of travelling through from Helensburgh due to the snow conditions. Robert is keen to come through to Meadowbank for a workshop in the New Year.

Jonathan’s Hill Update 28/11/10

Hi folks,  WINTER DRAWS ON Sound advice from our favourite running shops – and I am sure they have plenty to sell – so why not pay them a visit . I am sure though that you will have realised, despite the snow, that winter has not started yet - not till December 21 – which is also the shortest day.

The well known saying springs to mind – ‘If November ice do bear a duck, winter will be slush and muck’  So best get all this snow and ice out of the way as soon as possible.   (more…)

EAC Race Reports

Looking at our webstats, it is clear that by far the most popular posts on our website are the race reports. This year we have been privileged to receive over 75 individual reports within 57 web postings. A big thank you goes out to the 23 people involved in writing these. We have been spoiled for choice and the quality of the race reports certainly hasn’t been affected by the quantity. Race distances ranged from 4k to 82 miles and involve races in Scotland, UK and further afield! Please keep the reports coming in and if you haven’t yet contributed any, hopefully, reading some of these reports will inspire you to submit a report the next time you race.

There are many benefits to these reports. They can be informative, inspiring, amusing and always interesting. They demonstrate the variety and variation of events and activities that our athletes take part in. Lets not forget that they are also very educational, sharing race experiences and tactics and are also great for the athletes actually writing them, as it promotes self analysis and understanding of why some races go well while others do not.   (more…)
