Congratulations go to our web guru Martin on the arrival of little baby Little who arrived today at 01.14 weighing in at 8lbs 13oz . Our best wishes go to Martin, Hazel and LL from all at EAC.
What better way to while away that recovery rest time than by reliving a few running memories from the year and reviewing what the rest of the club has been up to over the year. Here is a whistle-stop tour of the calendar year and only shows some of the many successes we’ve had as a club this year at a wide range of distances and across Scotland, the UK and beyond! (more…)
Unfortunately another race has become a casualty of the weather. Our MacDonald Handicap race scheduled for 27/12/10 has now been postponed and will be rescheduled when the weather improves. Apologies for yet another race call off, but with the current ice and slippy conditions and freezing temperatures forecast to remain next week, conditions are too dangerous to ask runners to race on.
I apologise that we had to cancel the last session at such short notice; this was due to adverse weather in many parts of Scotland – which is still an issue – so safety for those travelling was the main concern.
Next – proposal for the next session – considering that we will be in to championship season – we normally ask Ian Tatton to come along; Gary McCracken mentioned a young starter also wishing to attend to get some more experience - so my suggestion is to do Championship Prep Session over 3 hurdles from gun!… Intermediate hurdlers can join in OR do some work on alternate legs (we can finalise detail closer to the session)
Dates: Can I propose the 16th Jan or the 30th Jan
Unfortunately the weather has claimed another event. The track at Meadowbank is closed and we will not be able to organise the paarlauf tonight.
I know there will be a lot of disappointed Santa’s out there as many of you were looking forward to this fun training session. However, bring your festive outfits along on Thursday to the Meadows as the Thursday evening session will also be a paarlauf and should hopefully be going ahead regardless of the weather conditions.
Other race updates:- Beecraigs race at Linlithgow on 26th Dec has been cancelled; Greenmantle Dash is on 3rd Jan (not 2nd as previously listed).
Jared Deacon, Former GB International 400m Athlete (45.63) and now coaches at Loughborough, will hold
a Workshop at Meadowbank on Tuesday 28th December at 11am. Athletes and Coaches Welcome.
Athletes £1.80 pay at Reception. Coaches Pay Bill Walker on the Day.
Please contact Bill Walker on email@example.com if you are to attend.
Below is a list of athletes he has been working with this Season.

This weekend will see the usual training sessions: On Saturday, meet at 10.00am at the Meadows Pavilion for a speed session. Sunday morning at 9.00am will be the long run from Craiglockhart Tennis Centre, meet in the top car park before heading out on paths and trails to Balerno and beyond with run distances from 12-16 miles.
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Queens Drive race due to safety concerns, however we will try to keep one aspect of the tradition going. We will still have a post Queens Drive social get together. This will be from 5pm onwards on Sunday at Lebowski’s, drop in and have a chat, bite to eat and a drink with your club mates, a chance to remember 2010 and plan 2011!
With all of the Christmas and New Year holiday’s, the festive period is a fantastic opportunity for runners to do lots of training and bank lots of miles. The added bonus is that you can then easily justify a few nights out and lots of additional eating and drinking
See below for a list of all the training sessions and races scheduled for the next few weeks, hopefully we will see lots of EAC’ runners at lots of these events. (more…)
