Christmas Dance/Disco

Friday 2nd December, The Quay Musselburgh.

I have booked “The Quay” for a club dance on the 2nd December.
I managed to get a good deal and if we can sell all the tickets we should be able to make very good funds for the club.
The aim is to sell 300 Tickets so it is up to everyone to sell tickets to their friends.

I have booked two Halls. One for the younger members, who should have at least one
parent with them, which will be for a Disco.
The other Hall will be for a Ceilidh / Disco.
You should arrive around 7pm for the buffet at 7.30pm. The Halls are next to each other.

Yvonne is looking for donations which will be used for a raffle.
These can be handed in at Meadowbank to either Yvonne, Gail or myself.
Get the date in your diary and round up your friends.
Coaches ensure your athletes are aware of it.
Each group should endeavour to sell 10 tickets.

Great North Run Race Report – Keith Dunlop

The Great North Run is now one of the iconic road races in the world, and conditions were perfect as we lined up on the central motorway inNewcastlefor the start. The Red Arrows drew a spontaneous round of applause as they flew over the 54,000 strong field assembled at the start and emotions were running high. This was my second crack at the GNR after a pretty awful attempt a few years ago, and a first half-marathon for Katie. We had been fortunate enough to have a friend organise us transport to the start and guest passes to the beer tent at the finish so there was an incentive to get round as quickly as possible.    (more…)

Stirling 10k race Report – Vik Bailie

This time last year, I had a 10k pb of 44:30 and had always underperformed at the distance, getting stitches in every race I did. It was driving me mad as I was sure with some hard work and a bit of focus I could do better and, convinced by Garry, I set myself the target this season of getting a sub 40 10k.

I upped my weekly mileage considerably and started going along to track sessions – which I’ve loved – and my times dropped down with two sub 39 minute runs earlier in the year. But Stirling has been hanging as a big carrot in the air since the start of the year: it’s a fast, flattish course with a high standard of runner so the perfect place to see how much lower I could get my time. In my dream scenario, I could picture the finishing clock reading 37:59 when I crossed the line and my looking over the moon but realistically I thought that a sub 38:30 was the target to aim for.  (more…)

Weekend Results From The EAC Endurance Squad 18/09/11

Having targetted the Stirling 10k, not only did we get a great turnout from our athletes, it is even more pleasing to be able to report,  2nd Female for Jenny, 1st M50 for Neil and the womens team of Jenny, Vik and Karen picking up silver medals in the Scottish Championship.  Add to that no less than 10 individual PB’s from the EAC contingent, it was a fantastic day for the EAC endurance squad.     (more…)
