We have a rest from Cross Country this weekend, the race options being either the Park Run or the Jedburgh 1/2 or 10k, good luck to anyone taking part. On Sunday at 9.00, there will be the usual long training run from Craiglockhart Sports Centre, meet in the top car park and we will head out on the Canal and Water of Leith paths to Balerno and beyond, with run distances of 12-16 miles mainly on paths and trails. Just turn up and join in. Have a great weekend of running.

The Edinburgh AC Performance Awards are now being given out.
These are awards based on the Thistle Awards Table and are given to athletes aged up to Under 17 who have competed for the club over the last season, including Cross Country and Indoor Track and Field.
Close to 250 athletes have attained an award and they should receive them over the next two weeks. If you have not received your award please contact your coach or Derek Cogle at Meadowbank or send a comment to this post.
So far, we have had 19 people sign up for Easy Fund Raising and £76 has been raised so far, but with over 500 members, we could do better……. Please read the Easyfundraising Flyer and visit their website for more information. If you purchase goods online, this doesn’t cost you anything extra and they donate money to the club.
The Young Athletes Annual Awards will be held at Meadowbank on Tuesday 8th November at 7:30
The awards shall be presented by Tom Holligan, European Olympic Youth Games 200m Gold Medal Winner and Kimberly Reed, Commonwealth Youth Games Hammer throw Silver Medal Winner.

12 September 2011 – British League Qualifier, Abingdon, Oxford
In the last track event of the season a very young EAC team attempted to get the senior men’s team back into the British League. There were some reasonable results and the day ended on a high note with victory in the 4 x 400m relay. However a lack of heavy events throwers meant that we were not really in contention for a top two place – but should be worth trying again next year.
