Congratulations to Freya Murray on her selection to compete in the Marathon at the London Olympics, with Paula Radcliffe pulling outdue to injury, Freya is invited to take her place.

We could still do with one or two more helpers for Sunday’s races, so if you are available, please volunteer to help, the tasks are easy and you get a cracking technical fabric t-shirt for your efforts. If you can help, please contact Emma, Alex or Garry ASAP or post a comment below.

The only good excuse for not helping out is if you are running….. and you are not too late, you can still get your entry in via Entry Central up until Thursday 2nd August, there are good individual and team prizes on offer in the 10k, so lets get a good EAC representation in our own race! On Sunday there will be the usual long training run at 9am from Craiglockhart Sports Centre. Meet in the top car park and we head out on the Canal and Water of Leith paths to Balerno and beyond, with run distances of 12-16 miles, mainly on paths and trails. A range of distances and a range of speeds, all welcome, just turn up and join in.

National Age Group Championships – CLOSING DATE

The closing date is now looming for the National U14, U16, U18 and U20 Age Group Championships.
Grangemouth will host the event on the weekend of Saturday 25 and 26 August 2012.

 All postal applications have to be submitted by Friday 10 August to:

Online applications through the scottishathletics website (via links below) should be submitted no later than midnight on Sunday 12 August 2012. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Edinburgh AC is hosting the Scottish Women’s League Match on 5th August and the National Junior Athletic League on 12th August and we could do with a few more helpers particularly for the field events.  If you are able to help, please contact Pat Sinclair pagesin@blueyonder.co.uk , you do not need to be qualified, just enthusiastic!

In particular we are looking in the long term for an announcer – if you fancy yourself as the next Steve Cram or  Brendan Foster please get in touch!  We  actually require one for the 5th

Scottish Young Athletes League Final, Grangemouth, Sunday 29th July

Some good results to report from the East District 10k Championships at Musselburgh. The EAC ladies picked up all of the medals with the Gold going to Jenny MacLean, Silver to Gillian Palmer and Bronze to Morgan Murphy. On the Men’s side Dan Clarkson picked up Bronze. Jenny and Rob Turner also picking up vet medals. We had 19 runners competing, the full results can be found at Musselburgh Results

At a track meet in Solihull, Neil Renault posted a 5k of 14.44 and in the 800m Jake Wightman was 1.51.  

Elsewhere, some good Park Run results, In Edinburgh Laura Dunn was 1st in 17.42, Jim Buick 18.49, David Steele 20.19, Pam Armstrong 24.57, Alastair Jack 33.38. Up at Inverness, Emma Dunnett was 1st in a course record of 19.15 and Oonagh Dunnett 20.15.
