The Scottish Age Group Championships were held on 25th and 26th August and our athletes came away with a total of 41 medals – 16 Gold, 13 Silver and 12 Bronze. (more…)

England Under 15/17 Championships – Bedford 18/19 August
There were some great results from our young athletes who travelled down to Bedford for the Enland U15 and U17 Championships – 3 medals (1 Gold & 2 Bronze) and 6 pbs and most of them are still in the same age group next year. (more…)

Endurance Squad Weekend Workouts – 31/08/12
Good luck to everyone heading to Glasgow on Sunday for the 1/2 Marathon or 10k, I think we have about a dozen runners taking part.
For everyone else, on Sunday there will be the usual long training run at 9am from Craiglockhart Sports Centre. Meet in the top car park and we will head out on the Canal and Water of Leith paths to Balerno and beyond, with run distances of 12-16 miles, mainly on paths and trails. A range of distances and a range of speeds, all welcome, just turn up and join in.

UK YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE FINAL – 02/09/12
Edinburgh AC will be representing Scotland at the final of the UK Young Athletes League at SportCity in Manchester on Sunday 2nd September. The team of 80 athletes travel down tomorrow hoping to do even better than last year’s 5th place.
It’s a high quality competition with many of theUK’s top young athletes taking part.Edinburgh’s team includes Josh Kerr (competing in 800m), Morro Bajo (100m & 200m), Ben Robbins (200m & 400m), Silvano Marcantonio (300m) and Emma Bowie (Hammer & Discus) who all got medals or were finalists at the recent English Age Group championships. Other top athletes in the team are winners from last weekend’s Scottish Age group championships – Kirsty McKean, Heide-Biberbach-Laidlaw, Michael Olsen, Guy Wardrop and Paul Ireland.
The athletes, aged 11 to 16, really look forward to the competition which is the highlight of the year. The other teams taking part are Birchfield, Blackheath & Bromley, Enfield & Haringey,Preston, Rugby & Northampton, Sale Harriers Manchester andWindsor,Slough, Eton & Hounslow. The quality of the opposition brings out the best in everyone and last year Edinburgh’s athletes returned with 3 Scottish records, 46 personal best performances and 62 medals.

Weekend Endurance Results
Endurance results from last weekend:-
A few podium finishes and a few PB’s were recorded. Neil Renault finished 5th in his first representative race for Scotland in the Dublin 10mile race with only a few seconds separating the top 5!, Niamh finishing 2nd in the Woman’s race. Also a great run from Gillian getting into the 35′mins when winning the Marymass 10k and from Sarah picking up 3rd place in the Hawick 10k. (more…)

Cross Country Fixtures – 2012/2013
This year’s cross country fixtures have now been published, please stick these dates into your diaries as they will all be target races. We would encourage all of the EAC endurance athletes to take part in as many of the cross country events as possible, as not only can you contribute to the team awards and pick up individual medals, you will also get fitter and stronger from the experience. Haddington Half Marathon 18/08/12 – Race Report by Richard Meade
Since I started running I’ve always wanted a Scottish Athletics medal, district or national, team or individual, road or cross country – I’ve wanted one! I’ve watched others win them, have been injured when I would have been in with a chance, chosen the wrong races, and narrowly missed out on them. I was beginning to think that I was never going to get one.
The Haddington Half Marathon also doubles up as the East District Half Marathon Championship and so this year when I realised that it fell at the end of one of my planned easier weeks during my Loch Ness Marathon training I knew it was going to be a target race and another chance at one of these elusive medals!
