Definitely NOT the Grand Prix where it’s worth going to the smaller events to pick up points! The bigger the race (& more EAC esp) the better…

  • Garry says:

The scoring was designed to favour the big races where lots of EAC athletes are running, BUT these extra few points gained from lower key events, can still make a difference to the final placings, so well worth getting out and representing the club in all of the winter cross countries :-)

Also, if you can persuade lots of EAC athletes to go and run in the lower key events, more points are going to be available at them (and we will also pick up team prizes!).

  • Scott Innes says:

One point to note is that a few of the races are not open entry so is it fair to include them when not all athletes have the ability to score? Otherwise a great thing to continue, Good Job!

Hi Scott, since the vets are in direct competition with the young whippets in all the other CC races with absolutely no allowances, the Masters CC is included as a sort of leveler or handicap system, to let the old guys narrow the points gap a little bit. Also, as long as points are available, it may help encourage more runners to take part.

  • Richard M says:

I think the Grand Prix has been excellent. We should seriously consider getting a Club Trophy for the winner.

Also, not that I want to add to your workload Garry, but have we considered doing one for the Road Race Season? Perhaps following the Stewarts Grand Prix races and a few local ones, suchas As Lasswade 10, Rigg Race etc

    • Garry says:

I did a road race grand prix a few years ago with mixed resuilts. If there is a demand, I can certainly do again? Last year tried to target specific races for team prizes. Been meaning to highlight the road races coming up to encourage team results, never had time last week. I’ll stick something on the site highlighting March road races by end of tomorrow!
