Everyone in the EAC athletics community is devastated to learn of the death of Brian Winning.
Brian’s infectious enthusiasm for the sport was legendary and he has been an inspiration to many of our young athletes. Many of our up and coming hurdlers owe their success to his coaching expertise.
He was passionate about providing the opportunity for youngsters in Edinburgh to experience athletics in their own “backyard” and was very active coaching around the city. He encouraged many of these athletes to become involved in competitive athletics with EAC.
He will be sorely missed by the athletic family.

So very sorry to hear this sad news regarding Brian’s passing this week,
I was with Brian on a youth hurdles course two weeks ago with my son and he was a true gentleman and coach. My heart and prayers go out to all his family, friends and all of you at Edinburgh Athletics.

Please can you inform the public of funeral place date and time.
We are absolutely devastated by this news. Our daughter really enjoyed her hurdles with Brian. He inspired her and had such a fantastic manner with the kids. He will be sorely missed.
So very sad to hear of Brian’s passing. I worked with him on many occasions at Pitreavie where we had huge turnouts of athletes from far and wide for hurdles sessions. A great loss to the sport.
