Stacey Downie of Edinburgh AC held on in magnificent style to clinch victory in the 153rd New Year Sprint. Inches behind was Scott Tindle of TLJT with scratchman Krishawn Aiken of Kilbarchan AC in third. Only one and a half metres separated the first four runners in this closely fought race.

The revived 100 metres Short Limit Handicap saw the spoils go to Charlie Carstairs of Lasswade AC. The £500 first prize Mile race, appearing at the New Year Sprint meeting after a 50 year break, was won by Alastair Scott of Lasswade AC, with the £500 first prize 200 metres Open Handicap awarded to Harris Morrison of Greenock Glenpark AC.

The 200 metres Youths Handicap for ages 9 – 13 years went to Charlie Hunter of Dunfermline T & F and the 200 metres Youths Handicap for ages 13 – under 16 years was won by Omar Bajo of Edinburgh AC.
