Senior Endurance Running
These sessions listed below are aimed at Seniors and Masters who wish to compete at Cross Country, Road, Trail and Fell Racing . All our coaches are volunteers, qualified by UKA (UK Athletics). If you are interested in training for track events (endurance or middle distance) please also view our Senior Middle Distance training.

New joiners
If new to club training and competition you are welcome to come and try it out before joining. It is expected that you are running at least three times per week and probably running faster than 27 minutes for 5km and 55 minutes for 10km.

Tuesday - Meadows Park
Lead coach: Alex Macewen
18:30 - 20:00
Meet at 18:30 hrs at Café Pavilion at Melville Drive / Jawbone walk.
The session is on paths around the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links. Most sessions are intense fartlek, repetitions and hill work. We will make adjustments for levels of fitness. Come changed and ready to train.
Tuesday - Saughton Track
Lead coach: Garry Robertson
17:45 - 19:30
Meet on the track at Saughton Sports Complex
The session includes:
warm up
10 minutes of drills and strides
10k worth of interval training
cool down
What should you bring:
good attitude
desire to improve
willingness to work hard
team work and support

Thursday - Meadows Park

19:00 - 20:00
Meet at 19:00 hrs at Café Pavilion.
A short warm up and a 10km ‘tempo’ continuous run (albeit varied paces). There are pace groups from 42 - 36 minutes for 10km).
Come changed and ready to train (there is nowhere to leave any valuables).
Saturday - Meadows Park

10:00 - 11:30
Meet at 10:00 hrs at Café Pavilion.
The session is based on the grass around the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links. Most sessions are intense fartlek, repetitions and hill work. We make adjustments for levels of fitness and the competition calendar.
