Edinburgh Athletic Club strives to meet the highest standards welfare in respect of its members and fully engages the recommended policies and good practices laid down by our National Governing Bodies, Scottish Athletics and British Athletics.

All our club coaches, officials and volunteers are subject to PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) procedures and are required to attend a Safeguarding & Protecting Children in Athletics workshop every three years.

Statement by The Board of Trustees

Following a recently concluded investigation by the National Governing Body for athletics, Scottish Athletics Ltd (SAL) and an adjudication by a United Kingdom Athletics (UKA) Case Management Panel, John Lees’ licence to coach athletics has been withdrawn for a period of five years. This relates to breaches of the UKA Coach Licence Terms and Conditions. Consequently, Coach John Lees has resigned his membership of Edinburgh Athletic Club and will have no further role in coaching members of our club.

Following a UKA appeals procedure, Coach John Lees athletics coaching licence has been withdrawn permanently.
