During an athletics career, which spanned 3 decades she was a Scottish title winner in high jump, long jump, pentathlon and hurdles and won the British pentathlon title in 1969. A Scottish and GB internationalist she won a bronze medal in the high jump in the 1970 Commonwealth Games and became an Olympian in 1976, representing GB in the high jump in Montreal.
She got involved in officiating, coaching and administration when both her daughters took up athletics and for many years was team manager of Team Edinburgh, who competed with great success in the upper Youth Development League.
She enjoys being involved in the sport as an official and a coach, alongside the promotion of Glasgow Jaguars as a pathway for U20 and Senior athletes in Edinburgh Athletic Club, enabling athletes to experience top level competition in the National Athletics League Premier Division.
