Scottish Schools Championships
Scottish Schools Championships 10-11 June 2011 - GrangemouthEdinburgh athletes had a great couple of days at the Scottish Schools Championships. Although for once the wind kept down, it wasn’t particularly warm and there were several showers on Saturday.
Top performance came from Kimberley Reed who set a new UK and Scottish record in the U17 Hammer with throw of 55.98m adding over 2 metres to her previous best. For this performance Kimberley was awarded the Frances Barker Shield for the outstanding female performance of the championships.
In the boys events Tom Holligan was awarded the Eric Liddell Memorial Trophy for the outstanding male performance with impressive wins in the 100m (10.86) and 200m (21.64).
In the U14 boys 800m Josh Kerr won in 2.07.90 which was a new Championship Best Performance – for this he was awarded the trophy for the best 800m of the championships. He followed this up with a win in the 1500m the next day.
Other multiple winners were Silvano Marcantonio in the U14 Boys with 3 golds (100m, 200m and 80m Hurdles), Ben Robbins – 2 golds (U15 200m and 400m) and Olivia O’Hare 2 golds(U17 800m and 1500m).
EAC athletes won a total of 52 medals (24 Gold, 10 Silver and 18 Bronze) – listed below.

In addition on 4th June Freddy Smith won gold in the U17 Scottish Schools Pentathlon championships.
