Update from Richard:
We’ve pretty much passed half way in the Grand Prix and things are shaping up nicely.
Men’s Championship
The Men’s race looks to be very close across all the age groups. The top 3 senior men could be very close if Neil Renault and Leon Johnson complete a fifth qualifying race. At the moment Bryan Mackie sits atop of Disco Stu.
Andy Latham is racing away with the V40 championship, but there are number of runners that could make a late surge to deny him. And David Cross could yet challenge Chris Creegan in the V50 category. It seems as though no one will be able to stop Eric Stevenson in the V60 category, but if anyone can, then Coach Alex is the man to spoil Eric’s planned party.
Lots of good running still to go!

Women’s championship
There seems to have been less interest in the championship from the women so far, but there are still enough races left to get the 5 qualifying races in, so hopefully this will pick up.
The top 3 so far are certainly in a close race and any one of them could win it depending on how they get on in the second half of the summer. Some good running from Charlotte Garry and Hannah Waugh have seen them move to the top of the current table, but Karen Dobbie is not too far behind. All still need to complete a final qualifying race, so it could all change again.
A couple of the other runners just need to complete a few more races and they too could be competing for the podium spaces. There are also more than enough races left for those that haven’t even started yet, but still fancy a go. Check out the list at the end.
The Current Top 5:
Position | Athlete | Age Catergory | Num of Events | Total |
1 | Charlotte Garry | Sen | 4 | 383 |
2 | Hannah Waugh | Sen | 4 | 357 |
3 | Karen Dobbie | V40 | 4 | 344 |
4 | Nikki Gibson | Sen | 3 | 308 |
