As Chair of the Track and Field  commission I would like to thank everyone in the club, who contributed to a bit of history and reinstated the East District Championships to their rightful place on the Scottish Athletics calendar.
It was indeed a “family” affair from the organising sub committee to the many parents, officials and coaches who willingly and cheerfully gave up their time over the weekend.
Despite some fairly major “teething” problems the event elicited nothing but praise from many of the athletes, coaches and parents I spoke to and the exuberance and enthusiasm of the athletes could not fail to light up a pretty dismal day of weather on Sunday.  For many of the youngsters it was their first taste of “Championship Athletics” and my heartfelt thanks for making it such a positive one.
