10,000m Final, Commonwealth Games, Delhi
Freya Murray finished just outside the medals in the 10000m in Delhi.
Freya ran bravely to take 5th place in a 10,00m dominated by the two Kenyan athletes.
The early pace was set by the Indians until the eventual winner, Grace Momanyi and Silver medallist Doris Changeywo made a break and moved well clear of the chasing pack.
Freya was in medal contention for much of the race but was unable to respond to a decisive kick from India’s Kavita Raut who eventually took Bronze.
England’s Charlotte Purdue took 4th with Freya crossing the line in 33.24.59 for 5th.
In the 5000m Freya worked hard, leading the race initially, finishing in 7th place with a time of 16:26.22
