George Mann

EAC members will be saddened to learn of the death last week of George Mann.
George became involved with the club around 10 years ago through his son, Fraser.  As Fraser developed as an athlete George became more involved as a parent helper and then as a coach.
For the past 2 years George had been in charge of a group of EAC 14-15 year-old endurance runners all of whom had made great progress under his guidance.  Despite his serious illness over the last few months George still attended training regularly, most recently at Arthur’s Seat only a week before his death.  George will be greatly missed by all coaches, helpers, athletes and parents in “Eric’s group” and we pass on our sympathies to Arlene, Fraser and all the family.  The funeral will be held at Warriston Crematorium, Lorimer Chapel on Friday 7th  October at 10am.

We will all miss the guidance and the knowledge you brought to the Group. You were always aware on Tuesday nights what everyone had done that Weekend. When a joke was required you were always there. Before the BAL Qualifier you told Peter you’ll be running under 1:50 this weekend and then added a laugh.
You will always be known as a good friend and colleague.
