David Stevenson International Pole Vaulter and former member of Edinburgh Southern Harriers received the Freedom of Dumfries and Galloway for his involvement in bringing national recognition to Langholm, for his generosity of spirit and the time he has devoted to his local community. The last person to receive this honour was Neil Armstrong!  David, under the auspices of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, sponsored Edinburgh Southern Ladies for many years.  He is pictured with his wife Alix, both were in the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo.
