National Athletics League

The second league match of the National Athletics League took place in Kingston at the weekend and Edinburgh athletes put in strong performances for Glasgow Jaguars, who were delighted with an overall 4th place finish in this Premiership Division match.  


Sarah Malone continued her excellent season with a windy 11.71 to finish in second places in the B races at 100m and 200m and over the barriers Emily Craig lowered her season’s best in the 400m H to 60.52 for a second-place finish.

Lauren Stoddart, a stalwart of the EAC team for many years in the UK womens league showed similar commitment and in her third event of the day, recorded a win in the B 2000m steeplechase. Competing in the 1500m, Carolyn Cameron finally managed to better the PB she set at the age of 14 whileAnise Macaulay Orr took advantage of the opportunity to set an outdoor PB of 2.15.64 in the 800m. Sam MacNeill on his debut for the team scored crucial points in the steeplechase and the 3K while Ewan Purves again contested the 800M and the 4x400M relay.  It was pleasing to see Stacey Downie open her season after injury with a 3rd place finish the A 400M.


In difficult conditions, Molly Reville contributed valuable points with a 2nd place finish in the A long jump and Kate Harvie marked her season debut for the team with a season’s best of 11.03. in the triple jump, In the High Jump Cameron Forbes again went very close at 2.01 but had to settle for 1.96, winning the B string event.

Full points were gained by our officials of whom 6 were supplied by EAC and thanks to Team Managers Anne Scott and Keith Ridley, who formed part of the Team Management.

Any Senior or U20 in the club, who think they might benefit from this competitive pathway, which is supported by the  club’s executive and trustees should contact  The registration fee is £10, which athletes should pay but if selected the club will pay any subs due.
