In a fighting finish, Chris O’Hare gritted his teeth to win Silver in the 3000m at the European Championships in Glasgow. Chris took the silver on a photo finish from Henrik Ingebritsen – with both athletes timed at 7.57.19 – as Jacob Ingebritsen landed gold.
‘With 200m to go I thought I’ve got bronze and tried to give it everything I had to be on Henrik’s shoulder, and it took me a lot to get on his shoulder, but then round the bend the crowd just erupted,’ said Chris.
‘That roar inside the Emirates Arena really does kind of pick you up an chuck you towards the line.
‘Obviously every medal is different by way of what it took to get there – I got my first two as a rookie on the scene. Now I am maybe kind of the old boy so it’s good to kind of get back on medal standing and be rewarded for four years of hard work.’
