Triathlon Scotland Foundation Squad

Ross McWhirter from Edinburgh AC has been selected onto the triathlonscotland Foundation Squad for 2012-2013 triathlon season.
I trust that this is something that the club will take pride in having an athlete on a National Performance Squad and that you will see this as a positive reflection on your club.

At the Foundation level of our programme we offer the athletes monthly camps to check progress on identified development areas, help them shape focus and goals for training, plus engage and share training with other athletes who are at the same age and stage as them.
They will also be encouraged to join supported race trips to events across Britain during the triathlon race season which is April till October.
The day to day training for a triathlete requires the athlete (and family) to manage a delicate balance of logistics and commitments to take part in various training sessions at single sport clubs and specific triathlon clubs. Therefore the role your club plays in helping and supporting Ross towards his personal goals is absolutely critical.
Should your club coaches require any further information regarding triathlon and the standards and expectations of young athletes with potential, then contact me and I will either answer your queries directly or aim to find someone local to your club who you can give you the information. Once again, congratulations on your help and support to Ross.
