Young Athletes Strike Gold

England Under 15/17 Championships – Bedford, 21 – 22 August

Congratulations to all our athletes who competed in the English U15/17 championships at the weekend – they all performed magnificently!
There were 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze (nearly half of the Scottish total) and load of personal bests.

On the first day Tom Holligan took silver in the U17 100m with a new pb of 10.84 just missing out on first place by one hundredth of a second. The next day Tom stormed to clear victory in the 200m with another pb of 21.89. Both performances rank him 5th on the Scottish all time U17 lists.

Jay Younger was our other gold medallist running 48.49 to win the U17 400m; this time took 0.7 off his previous best and ranks him 5th on the Scottish U17 all time list

Kimberley Reed was 3rd in the U17 Hammer with a throw of 46.52m – a great achievement as Kimberley has another year in this age group. She was also 9th in the Discus with a throw of 31.16m.

Ben Robbins was 6th in the U15 400m  with a time of 52.97, just outside his pb, and he still has another year in this age group.   Olivia O’Hare was 5th in the final of the U15 800m in 2.17.56 (2.15.89 Ht) –  a great run from another athlete who still has another year in the age group.

Jamie Batho qualified for the final of the U15 80m Hurdles, finishing 7th, having only taken up the event 4 months ago.

Paula Gass was 11th in the U17 javelin with a throw of 35.31m

Cameron Goodall was 6th in his heat of the U17 100m Hurdles in a pb of 13.96, having only recently returned to competition after injury.

It was a very enjoyable weekend – thanks to all the parents who came down to help out and support the athletes.
